Born and raised in Salem, VA, Kathy attended Mountain Empire College majoring in Ceramics and received an Associates Degree in Art. After working as a professional potter, in 1979 she began her career as a designer for stained glass art in custom designing and building windows and also started teaching through Roanoke County Adult Education.
